PERSONALIZING COLOR
by Deb
We have all seen color charts that can supposedly tell us what color to use for candle magick, and other magick, depending on our goal. I believe that color is personal, and here is a meditation that I have found helpful in discovering my personal color symbols, or meanings. I perform the exercise twice per year, or as needed prior to spell work or ritual. Notes should be taken during this exercise, or immediately following it, and you may do one color at a time, or one color per day, until your list is complete to your satisfaction.
Sit or lie in a comfortable position, with no limbs crossed. Ground and center in your usual manner. Use a relaxation exercise of your choice, let your mind and body slip into it's meditative state. When you are fully relaxed, visualize your body rising, and walking to the door that leads you outside. All of your household surroundings appear gray, they lack depth, or composition. They are void. When you approach the door that leads you outside, it is glowing. The only color in the room. The door glows deep emerald green. You reach for the door knob, and as you grasp it your hand feels warm, and the color seeps into your hand. You take it in for a moment, unafraid. You open the door. Everything outside the door emits the dark shades of green. You step outside. You feel yourself immersed in green, dark, lush, green. What plants and animals do you see? What are your feelings? Is there a river? Is there water? Is there growth? Is there stagnancies? Be honest, linger as long as you can. See your environment, and feel it. You create it from the color you use. Soak it in, and make notes on your feelings both positive and negative. This step is imperative when reviewing color symbols and organizing meanings.
You may repeat the exercise using different colors, as often as you like. Keep in mind while you are visualizing that if you are focusing on Navy Blue, the world you visualize should consist mainly of blues, focusing on Navy.
