Words of Power
MANTRA: A formula, which, by the power of its sound, creates certain conditions in the world of one’s soul.
In this class, we will travel around the world in a sacred space, in this sacred time, to learn and evoke Words of Power that have been used since time began. We will chant, meditate, and discuss cause and effect of words from the languages of the past. There exists a vast selection of power words for many uses and in many tongues that are far too numerous to include in a single class. So, we will concentrate primarily on sacred sounds drawn from Hebrew, Egyptian, Sanskrit and Tibetan traditions.
Use of sacred sounds, by its very action, results in stimulation of the individual intuitive insight, and greatly enhances the human capacity for making correct choices. Because sound is energy, and energy is part of the ‘collective’, words that have been used for centuries, carry much energy and create that which they originally were spoken for.
In the beginning God said..............., and since we are all part of God, we too can change our surroundings by saying specific words that have increased in power since their beginning. The spoken word was the sound that formed or created the Universe.
The power of the Word, if used with intent, focus, will, can affect a desired goal. All Esoteric paths use mantras to create a desire. The Ancient Egyptians used hekau (words of power) for a variety of predetermined purposes. Tibetans and yogis use Sanskrit words of power to cause the kundalini to flow and cause an affect. The Hebrews used their words for protection, healing, and for the initiation of personal transformation and ultimate transcendence.
Egypt
Egyptian lore tells us that the god Tehuti (Thoth) played a crucial role in the earliest Nile traditions, in the development of a language of power, and in the act of creation itself. Ancient literature is filled with references to a Supreme Deity under various titles who first created for himself a place in which to dwell by uttering his own name as a Word of Power, and then created the heavens, the stars, the gods, Earth, people, animals, etc. It was Thoth, as representative of the intelligence of the Prime Creator, who translated into words these divine thoughts or ideas. When Thoth spoke these "words of power", creation commenced. Thoth was also acknowledged as a great magician, an UR HEKA, or ‘Great One of Words of Power’. He was the inventor of MEDU-NETER, or hieroglyphic writing---the "Words of God".
When studying Egyptian words of power, it is important to note the difference between the similarly spelled words neter and nefer. Neter can be taken as a common Egyptian title for any particular god. However, it is a word with many meanings; god-like, divine, sacred, power, strength, guardian, and watcher. Changing the t to f, the expression nefer relates to happiness, good fortune, perfection, beauty, or the granting of a boon by a god. Neter remains an extraterrestrial concept; nefer is the terrestrial manifestation of sehemu, the powers of the divine.
The plural Neteru can be compared with the Hebrew biblical reference to god as Elohim, which is also plural and means literally ‘Gods’. The individual neter represented personifications of the various aspects of a single Creator. This is in line with another interpretation of the word neter----’master of nature’.
The phrase below was designed for constant repetition in order to attract protection, inspiration, happiness and good fortune---and a ‘bonding’ with higher forces. If used in combination with any particular Egyptian deity’s name, it will draw towards the chanter the attributes of that chosen deity.
Note: I must mention that sincerity and intention of the invoker is of utmost importance. Remember that there is a universal law which states that all energy transmitted outwards, positive or negative, acts like a boomerange with added g-force from its travels.
Nefer-Neter-wed-neh (N’fr N’tjir wed neh) The perfect god grants life (insert particular god name after neter)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sounding of the word ankh (sign of eternal life) plus the three names of Ptah can stimulate a profound protective force on all levels of human activity, and help set into motion a process of transformation of the individual from human into super-human.
Ankh-Ptah-Sekher-Asar (onkh P’takh S’qr O’sr)
~~~~~~~~~~~~
This mantric phrase is designed to draw towards the user the life-giving warmth of the sun (Ra) and the protection of a deity\power who spent the hours of darkness fighting Apep, the serpent and personification of evil, always rising triumphantly every morning to shine anew in the sky.
Ra-Neter-Atef-Nefer (Raw N’tjir O’tf N’fr) The Divine god Ra is gracious (you can insert your request here)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This mantra phrase, dedicated to Osiris (concept of eternal life, life after death, etc.) incorporates the djed principle (the spinal column of Osiris, fire of life-kundalini). It promotes strength of will and purpose, leading towards a yearning for true wisdom and understanding in order to nurture spiritual transformation and growth. You may notice a heat up the spine while chanting over a period of time.
Asar-djedu (Os’r dje-doo) means Pillar of Osiris
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Goddess of both Earth and Moon, sister-wife of Osiris, and mother of Horus, Isis possessed virtually limitless powers. She was a great magician and held sway over Earth, sea and heavens, and even the underworld. Utterance of this mantra invoking her name, can be used to initiate immediate aid and protection and to provoke intuitive hints for action for anyone facing any form of threat, be it physical danger, disease, or psychic or spiritual.
Erta-na-hekau-apen-Ast (Err-tai neh khe-kah-oo o’pn Ost) May I be given the Words of Power of Isis
