CALENDULA UNSCENTED BABY SOAP
I have always loved growing calendulas (Marigolds) and have often used their flowers for making salves. To make this soap, steep 4 ounces of dried or semi-dried calendula flower in 4 ounces of olive oil in a jar, sealed, for 2 to 3 weeks, then strain the oil. A faster method is to steep the dried calendula flowers in water and use the strained infusion in place of all or part of the water called for in the recipe. (Or combine both methods.) I believe that this baby soap is the mildest, kindest soap available.
12 ounces lye 32 ounces water 24 ounces coconut oil 38 ounces vegetable shortening 24 ounces olive oil 4 ounces calendula-infused olive oil
