Astragalus (Astragalus membranaceous) the root of a native Chinese plant
Used for: · Chronic or recurrent infections (especially respiratory infections); it has antiviral activity · Low resistance to disease; it's an immunity booster · Colds and flus, both prevention and treatment · Physical effects of stress · Lack of vitality; debilitation after sickness, surgery · Adjunctive treatment for cancer

DOSAGES
Adults: A usual dose is 2 capsules or tablets twice a day, unless the product directs otherwise. A good combination product for immune enhancement is Astra-8, a mix of astragalus with seven other Chinese herbs. The dose is 3 tablets twice a day. Boil whole root slices in your choice of broth for 1 hour; remove before eating. With tinctures, a dosage of 1 dropperful in tea or water three times per day is recommended. You can take astragalus for an indefinite amount of time.
