Pennyroyal (Mentha pulegium or Hedeoma pulegioides) Oil, fresh leaves
Used for: · Insect repellent · Itching · Gout
Available in: Fresh herbs, tinctures, essential oils.
Herb/drug interactions: None known.
When buying: Look for products containing pure pennyroyal or a minimum of other ingredients.
Warning: NEVER take Pennyroyal internally. It can cause severe illness and death. Used topically some people may experience contact dermatitis (allergic skin rash) that ends upon cessation of use.
DOSAGES
Adults: One teasthingy of the fresh herb in one cup of water as a wash for itching skin; rub fresh leaves on skin to repel insects.
Children under 10: Small frequent washes
