Bilberry
Bilberry is a small wooden shrub found in Canada, Northern U.S.A and Europe. It is related to the blueberry and the blackberry. Bilberry posseses a flavaniod compound known as anthocyanocides which stabilizes and supports the collagen in your system.
Collagen is the most abundant protein of the body and is responsible for maintaining the integrity of your ligaments, cartilage, skin, tendons, muscles and other connective tissue. Collagen is destroyed during the inflammation processes that occur in rheumatoid arthritis, periodontal disease and other inflammatory conditions. The anthocyancides found in Bilberry help prevent the damage caused by free radicals as well as help to prevent the release of compounds that promote inflammations.
Bilberry has been found to be beneficial for the eyes. It strengthens the capillaries and improves circulation by enhancing the ability of fluids and nourishment to pass through. It has also been proven beneficial in preventing cataracts, night blindness and light sensitivity. Bilberry has also proven helpful in the treatment of varicose veins and helps to reduce the obstruction of the arteries by plaque deposits.
